Africa Magic has opened submissions for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), inviting filmmakers and TV content creators across Africa to showcase their work if it “lit up screens in 2025”. The awards ceremony will take place in Lagos in May 2026 ¹ ² ³.

Eligible entries must have been broadcast or publicly screened between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Feature-length films must have been shown in cinemas, on linear television, or on streaming platforms to qualify.

The 12th AMVCA introduces new Indigenous Language categories, including Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa, reflecting its commitment to Pan-Africanism, cultural preservation, and equitable representation.

  • Best Movie: “Lisabi: The Uprising”, “Skeleton Coast”, “House of Ga’a”, and “Freedom Way”
  • Best Director: Bolanle Austen-Peters for “House of Ga’a”, Norman Maake for “Inkabi”, and Femi Adebayo for “Seven Doors”
  • Best Lead Actor: Gideon Okeke for “Tokunbo”, Wale Ojo for “Breath of Life”, and Femi Adebayo for “Seven Doors”
  • Best Lead Actress: Chioma Chukwuka for “Seven Doors”, Bimbo Ademoye for “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre”, and Uche Montana for “Thinline”
