The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining troop deployments and operational support in Plateau State, amid ongoing efforts to address security challenges across the country.
Shaibu gave the assurance on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, as part of his operational and familiarisation tour of Army formations in the state.

According to a statement by the Army spokesperson, Col. Appolonia Anele, the COAS stressed that the military remains focused on restoring lasting peace, with troops continuing to operate in a professional, coordinated, and intelligence-driven manner to safeguard lives and property.
“The Nigerian Army will continue to deploy its personnel and resources professionally to mitigate security threats and ensure the protection of lives and property. With all hands on deck, lasting peace on the Plateau is achievable,” Shaibu said.
The Army chief also commended the Plateau State Government for its consistent support to the Nigerian Army, particularly the Armoured Corps, describing the state as a strategic partner and the home of the corps.
Acknowledging the complexity of Plateau’s security situation, Shaibu underscored the need for sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint efforts among security agencies and other stakeholders, noting that strengthened cooperation remains critical to achieving long-term stability in the state.
