Grammys 2026: Tyla Wins Best African Music Performance Award

Tyla has continued her rapid ascent on the world music scene after emerging winner of the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, overcoming stiff competition from some of Africa’s biggest names.

The South African pop sensation claimed the award with Push 2 Start, beating Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, alongside Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

Designed to elevate African music globally, the category once again reflected Nigeria’s strong presence at the Grammys, as Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr featured prominently among the nominees.

The 2026 win represents Tyla’s second Grammy in the category, having first made history in 2024 with Water as the inaugural recipient. Her consecutive victories reinforce her status as a leading force in Africa’s growing influence on the international music landscape.
