NAF Bombs Terrorists in Mandara Mountains Under HADIN KAI

The Nigerian Air Force has carried out a coordinated air strike targeting terrorist positions in Guduf, located in the Mandara Mountains, as part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations under Operation HADIN KAI.

Air Force spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, said in a statement yesterday that the precision strike was conducted following credible intelligence on the convergence of terrorists in the area.

“On April 27, 2026, Nigerian Air Force aircraft conducted a coordinated air interdiction mission against identified terrorist enclaves in Guduf, within the Mandara Mountains,” Gabkwet said.

He explained that the strike was executed after sustained Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist commanders and fighters using the location as a staging area for attacks on civilian communities and military formations in Borno State.

“The Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized while their structures and logistics were destroyed,” the spokesman added.

The Mandara Mountains, which straddle the Nigeria-Cameroon border, have been used by insurgents as hideouts due to the difficult terrain.

The latest air operation falls under Operation HADIN KAI, the military’s joint task force combating insurgency in the North-East. The Theatre Commander, Maj. Gen. W. Shaibu, had last week vowed to sustain air and ground offensives to deny terrorists freedom of action.

The Air Force urged communities to support ongoing operations by providing timely information, while assuring that it would continue to “take the fight to all terrorist elements” in line with its constitutional mandate.

No civilian casualties were reported in the strike, according to the statement.
