Former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has visited the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) facility in Abuja to sign the condolence register following the recent military aircraft crash in Ondo State.
Obi disclosed the visit in a statement, describing it as a follow-up to his earlier condolence message over the tragedy.
The NAF aircraft, an ATR-42, crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State on October 5 while on a routine mission. The Nigerian Air Force subsequently confirmed that 25 people—20 passengers and five crew members—were on board, with no survivors reported.
Speaking on the visit, Obi said it provided him another opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made daily by members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies in the line of duty.
He described security personnel as Nigerians who put their lives on the line to defend the country and protect its citizens, stressing that their service and sacrifice should not be taken for granted.

Obi extended his condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and the families, colleagues and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the crash.
He also prayed for the eternal repose of the deceased and for strength and comfort for their bereaved families.
“May God grant eternal rest to the departed and give their families the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss,” Obi said.
He further prayed for the continued protection of all personnel serving the country.
