INEC Begins PVC Distribution Ahead of FCT Council Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of preparations for the February 21 Area Council elections.

In a statement on its official X handle on Tuesday, the commission urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs promptly, noting that possession of the card is essential to participate in the elections.

According to INEC, PVCs will be available at voters’ Registration Areas (wards) from January 22 to January 26, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily.

“Dear #FCT Resident, as we prepare for the February 21st Area Council Election, INEC is bringing your PVC closer to you. Don’t miss the chance to collect your PVC in the FCT,” the commission said.

INEC urges eligible voters to collect their PVCs ahead of local government elections.

“From Jan 22–26, 9 am –3 pm daily, visit your Registration Area (Ward) to collect your Permanent Voter Card (PVC). After the 26th, collection continues at INEC Area Council Offices.”

The commission explained that voters unable to collect their PVCs at ward level within the scheduled period can still do so afterward at INEC Area Council offices across the FCT.

INEC also encouraged residents to track the status of their PVCs using the online locator tool via https://cvr.inecinigeria.org/Locator.

The February 21 elections, set to begin at 8:30 a.m., will feature 17 political parties contesting seats across the FCT’s 62 wards, making PVC collection a critical step toward ensuring broad voter participation.
