The Kano State Government has assured residents that the ongoing emirate tussle will be resolved amicably soon. Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, made this known while addressing journalists in Kano, stating that concrete measures have been put in place to restore lasting peace and stability in the state.
Waiya emphasized that the government is committed to dialogue with all stakeholders, ensuring the emirate matter doesn’t generate tension or hinder governance.
He also linked Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to potential benefits for the state, citing increased federal support in critical sectors like infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare.

“I assure you that very soon, the Kano government will resolve the dispute over the Kano Emirate, because we are now one and it is possible that some will step down from the throne on their own, or others will seek reconciliation because a mutual understanding has been reached”.
The emirate dispute involves Muhammadu Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero, with multiple court rulings adding complexity to the issue.
The state government remains focused on governance, unity, and development, urging residents to remain calm and supportive.
