The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has alerted the public to a surge of fraudulent recruitment schemes falsely claiming to offer jobs at the agency.
In a statement shared on its official X account on Monday, NMDPRA said it was compelled to respond after unscrupulous groups began exploiting Nigerians with promises of employment, often demanding large sums of money for non-existent positions.
“These scammers are issuing bogus employment letters, advertising fake vacancies, and making false promises of jobs to defraud unsuspecting applicants,” the agency said.

NMDPRA emphasized that no recruitment exercise is ongoing, and the agency is not hiring at any level.
“We wish to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the statement read. “Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”
The agency also clarified that any legitimate recruitment will strictly follow established Nigerian Public Service procedures and will be formally announced through official channels.
The public was urged to ignore fake advertisements and verify all information through the agency’s official website and verified social media pages.
“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram,” the statement added.
NMDPRA warned that the fraudulent activities not only defraud citizens but also damage the agency’s reputation, and called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment offers to the appropriate authorities.
