Karim Benzema could be set for a high-profile switch within the Saudi Pro League, with negotiations under way for the French forward to join leaders Al-Hilal amid mounting uncertainty over his future at Al-Ittihad.
Sources say Al-Hilal are exploring a deal to sign the former Ballon d’Or winner for the final six months of his current contract. However, Benzema’s representatives are reportedly pushing for an 18-month agreement, as talks continue.
Despite scoring eight goals in 14 league appearances this season, Benzema has missed Al-Ittihad’s last two matches, with reports suggesting the striker is dissatisfied with the club’s proposed contract extension.

The potential transfer has drawn attention given that both Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal are owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, highlighting the growing fluidity of player movement among state-backed clubs in the league.
Benzema joined Al-Ittihad in 2023 after a decorated 14-year spell at Real Madrid, where he established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards. He made an immediate impact in Saudi Arabia, scoring 21 goals last season to help Al-Ittihad secure the league title.
This season, however, Al-Ittihad trail Al-Hilal by 12 points in the title race, as speculation around Benzema’s future intensifies.
Head coach Sergio Conceicao declined to address the striker’s recent absence, stating that the issue should be handled by club management.
