On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed. On July 4, 2026, the nation marks 250 years. The anniversary is called “America250.”
Trump leads the celebration
President Donald Trump declared July 4, 2026 a national anniversary.
“I urge all Americans to honor the heritage and accomplishments of our Republic,” he said.
On the National Mall, Trump called the U.S. the “crowning achievement of human history.” He praised the end of slavery, the World Wars, and the Moon landing.

He also shared his goals for the future.
“We will defend liberty. We will return to the Moon and to Mars. We will lead in AI and quantum discovery,” he said.
Trump warned of threats to American values. He asked Congress to pass stricter voting laws.
Challenges in 2026
The celebration comes during tough times.
Economy: Inflation hit 4.2% in May. That’s a 3-year high. Wages rose 3.5% but costs rose faster. Only 57,000 jobs were added in June. The Fed may raise interest rates again this year.
Politics: Most Americans expect more division in Washington. Business leaders worry about new rules and trade fights.
Daily life: Tariffs may keep prices up. Most families feel squeezed. The top 10% are doing most of the spending. Childcare costs and an aging population are also a problem.
Still, the economy grew 2.2% in 2025. Most experts do not expect a recession.
