At least twenty-nine states have received a combined four hundred and thirty-five-point-two-five billion naira in special Federal Government funding for infrastructure and security between January and June 2026.
The data was obtained from the fiscal performance of each state, utilising data from the Q1 to Q2 budget performance reports from January to June 2026 obtained from Open Nigerian States
According to the data, money came through a special Federation Account Allocation Committee intervention for state infrastructure and security.
Financial records from the states show that the funding was separate from conventional statutory allocations.
Analysis of the report shows, no money was recorded under the intervention during the same period last year.
Enugu recorded the highest dedicated allocation at twenty-seven-point-zero-two billion naira, followed by Gombe with twenty-four-point-five billion naira.
The Federal Government introduced the intervention in twenty twenty-three to help states invest in roads, health, education, water, power and security.
The special FAAC intervention was introduced in 2023 to help states tackle rising insecurity. With attacks on highways, schools, and farms still making headlines in 2026, the fund is being used for patrol vehicles, surveillance, and critical road repairs in high-risk areas.
