The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that all arrangements for the upcoming Ekiti State Governorship Election are in place, as security agencies intensify mobilisation across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, INEC said logistics deployment and training of ad-hoc staff have been completed ahead of Saturday’s poll. The Commission added that sensitive and non-sensitive materials are being distributed to the 16 Local Government Areas in line with its election timeline.
According to the electoral body, the movement of ballot papers, result sheets, and BVAS machines to LGAs began this week to ensure early arrival at polling units. INEC noted that the early distribution is part of efforts to avoid last-minute hitches during voting and collation.
Meanwhile, security agencies have ramped up presence across Ekiti. Police commands and other security formations are coordinating patrols, checkpoints, and protection of election materials to guarantee a peaceful process on election day.
INEC assured voters that adequate security measures have been put in place by the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security. The Commission urged citizens to come out peacefully to exercise their franchise as the state prepares for Saturday’s June 20 governorship election.
