Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima marked his 60th birthday on September 2, 2026, requesting a low-key celebration focused on national prayers instead of elaborate festivities.
Senator Kashim Shettima turned 60 on September 2, 2026. He asked friends, associates, and well-wishers not to organize public celebrations or place paid congratulatory advertisements in print, broadcast, or digital media. He urged the public to channel their goodwill and attention into prayers for Nigeria, economic reforms, security solutions, and national unity under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Prominent leaders—including First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke—celebrated his milestone, praising his record as a former governor, senator, and current vice president.
Senator Shettima (GCON) was elected two-time governor of Borno State from 2011 to 2019 and served concurrently as Chairman of the Northern Governor’s Forum when he was a Governor.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in her congratulatory message to the Vice-President on his 60th birthday, described him as a loyal and committed person.
Governor Adeleke of Osun state prayed Almighty Allah grant His Excellency renewed strength, sound health, abundant wisdom and many more years of fulfilment and purposeful service to our dear nation.
