Pretty Mike Walks Free as Judge Dismisses NDLEA Drug Suit

Federal High Court in Lagos has discharged socialite and nightclub owner Mike Nwalie, popularly known as Pretty Mike, and his club supervisor, Joachim Hillary, in a drug-related case filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Delivering judgment, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa upheld their no-case submission, ruling that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case requiring them to enter a defence.

The court held that the evidence presented raised only suspicion and was not sufficient in law to support a criminal charge or conviction.

Pretty Mike and Hillary were earlier arraigned on charges including conspiracy, unlawful possession of drugs, and permitting alleged drug activities at a Lagos nightclub.

The NDLEA had alleged that operatives recovered nitrous oxide and cannabis during a raid in 2023, but the court ruled the evidence was insufficient and discharged both defendants.
