The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, on Tuesday led a high‑level delegation to the Abuja residence of former INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to condole with him over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega. Hajiya Hadiza died on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
According to a press statement issued by the Media Adviser to the DG, Mohammad Abdulkadri (mnipr), Prof. Sulaiman was accompanied by members of NILDS management and personal aides. The delegation was received by Prof. Jega, who also serves as a consultant for the NILDS Executive Education Programme (CAEEP).
The visit was described as “solemn and heart‑touching” as the NILDS team joined other dignitaries who converged at the residence to commiserate with the bereaved family. Among those present was former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Yayale Ahmed.
Before departing after spending hours with the bereaved, the Director of Legal Services at NILDS, Prof. Shuaib Danwaka, led the NILDS family in a special prayer for Allah’s mercy upon the late Hajiya Hadiza and for fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
